Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Friends! I hope you all had a wonderful day with your loved ones!

First I want to welcome, Robert MacArthur Wood!!!! My lovely friend Heather finally pushed that baby out! Au Naturale. God Bless that woman! I'm looking forward to hearing her birth story... I'm like 99.9% sure I'm getting an epidural again this time around... But maybe she can change my mind....

I've been opening a lot of Christmas cards these past few weeks. And we love getting them! Love seeing every one's beautiful family! Please never stop sending them! But I feel the need to share why you won't be receiving one from us this year. Or probably ever. I'm lazy. Not just your run of the mill lazy friend either. It seems like I can never muster up the energy or desire to upload photos to my computer from my phone or camera. Forget shutterfly. I get free print offers all the time from them, even that doesn't motivate me. In fact, I'm so lazy I probably have pictures loaded on shutterfly (who knows how they got there...) that haven't been printed off and I still don't use my free print offers. It's bad. I know. After Kaylee was born I some how managed to put together and print her birth announcements, she was born in December, they got sent out in September. Poor Baby J! Here's another example of how I just suck at these things... Frank and I had a very small wedding ceremony, like 20 people were invited, I bought some expensive and fancy paper to print marriage announcements on, and never made any further progress. There are still family members who have no idea we are married... Ok, that's a joke. But seriously, I can't bring myself to fill photo albums, let alone scrapbook. Kay's baby book is in poor shape, all I have to do is write in things but I still can't manage to get it done. Fail. And Epic Fail! I'm hoping Frank develops an interest in doing that kind of stuff, otherwise our kids are in for some major disappointment when they get older.

Christmas Eve did not disappoint this year. At 4pm yesterday I realized I never had Kay's picture taken with Santa. Lucky me, Santa was at the mall until 6. So my mom, Kay and I hightailed it up to the mall. I pulled Kay out of her seat. Then she preceded to vomit all over herself; her coat, dress, shoes, then my coat, jeans, and shoes. Of course I didn't pack any baby wipes, forget clean clothes. Who would do that? We wrapped Kay in a blanket and carried her into Macy's to clean her up. Mom and I were ready to pack it in but Kay did not sway, she wanted to see Santa and that's all there was to it. Of course, she had nothing clean to wear, so I left Kay and my mom in the bathroom and went clothes shopping. Funny thing about the holidays, they sell out of everything. Apparently. I found two things that she could possibly wear, one outfit or a pair of pajamas. I went with the outfit. Paid, dressed and walked to Santa. Kay sat on his lap but wasn't in a smiling mood. Who could blame her? I was praying she wouldn't puke on Santa, what a mess that would have been. Got the picture, turned out pretty cute. I even got the disk of the picture, sadly I'm too lazy to go find it, upload it and post it. Tomorrow, perhaps, but don't count on it. It'll make it on facebook eventually. Before March I hope. We stopped to browse the Kitchen Aid appliances on our way out of Macy's, we love us some Kitchen Aid! when Kay puked again. She managed to soak her new shirt and shoes, again, and cover the display table and floor. I mopped it up with, I don't even remember, and took her outside to undress her. Poor girl rode home shirtless wrapped in a Bear's blanket. We wouldn't have cared if she puked on it, but no such luck. We decided some Pedialite would be in order and I walked into the Food Lion as they were closing. We also concluded church was out of the question. :( After a long bath and some juice Kay looked like she felt better, so she unwrapped a few presents and we turned in early.

Today, well, it's Christmas, you can guess. I'm super excited about my present! I got my first sewing machine! I'm having some difficulty working it just right, and have to call Singer tomorrow, but I'm sooooooo excited to start my first project! I'm going to make a t-shirt quilt from all my ECU shirts! It's been a project hanging out in the attic for the past 3 years, probably time to get it started... My parents got Frank something like a power tool set, it has a saw! I'm worried. ;) Kay was spoiled, of course. She opened and played, then opened and played some more. We took a break this afternoon, then she opened some more presents after we went to see some Christmas lights. And she still has presents to open. Now. About these Christmas lights! We went to this house in Great Bridge, this guy has his own radio station, and website about the family lights! The lights coordinate with the song on the radio! It's quite a sight! That and all the cars parked in front of his house, and around the street, and people on the sidewalks taking pictures. His poor neighbors! Kay really liked it though and we drove around a bit more.

I'm the grouchiest pregnant lady. Ever.

Good morning friends : )

So since we got home from Indiana it's been a whirlwind of doctor's appointments, shopping, visiting, laundry... The list goes on... But there is much to catch up on. Lucky you.

1. The Doctor's report. Kaylee's... Ha! Baby 2 next.
Well, what can I say, she's perfect, but we already knew that. Kay weighs 27.94 pounds (66%) so after a few more cookies this weekend she'll be 28 :) and is 33.5 inches tall (35%), expect a growth spurt soon! This was a really good appointment for Kaylee, she really liked the doctor and let her poke and check everything without saying "Pop it!" or whining. Which is usually not the case. I guess that Fischer's Price Doctor play set worked some magic. The doctor said she is developing great, she's talks a lot (which we know) and has a lot of words. Many of you know how I agonized over her talking when we first started teaching her how to sign, but she's more than made up the difference in the past year, and even surpassed the standard. She still uses her signs, like if she tells us what she wants and we don't respond right away, she'll ask louder and use the sign. It's pretty funny.

Kay also got a shot. I want to be nice... But the guy that gave her the shot, was an idiot! He made Kay bleed! A lot! Blood was running down her leg! She's never had a bad reaction to a shot until this one. The night before last she slept so restlessly and kept saying her knee hurt. Then yesterday morning she could hardly walk! She was limping around, it was so sad! Daddy massaged her leg and she got a dose of children's Tylenol, and perked right up. She was still limping a little this morning, and said it hurt :(

2. Ok, ok... Baby 2... We found out yesterday we are having a BOY! Yay! He's healthy! Praise Jesus! And growing wonderfully, he's already over a pound! I gained a few pounds, which brings me back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Boo! I was hoping to hold off on that one for another week or so. I didn't exercise much while in Indiana, and ate a lot more junk than I would have at home. So over the next few weeks I'm hoping to maintain and manage my weight (gulp) gain better. Don't get all soap-boxy on me and tell me I need to gain 30 pounds with this kid. I've got weight to lose, the baby is healthy, so don't worry. I don't go back to the doctor until February. Which I'm not thrilled about, I mean 6 weeks! That's a long time! I guess I will check with my doctor friend and see what he says.

Little J... was up early this morning kicking away... Big Kicks! Jolted me right out of my restless sleep. Thanks baby! But I count you as the lucky beneficiaries, as this is the reason you are getting a post today. My parents took Kay shopping with them so no responsibilities on the horizon here, unless you count Frank... hmmmmm...

3. I'm really excited to share this bit of news with y'all! We've been talking, since Texas, about sponsoring a child. We wanted to find a child born the same day as Kaylee, but never sat down to look. Well, last night, we found a little girl named Mathesto from Lesotho, Africa to sponsor. First I want to tell you I wish we could sponsor every single child on that page. It breaks our hearts to know that there are starving children everywhere, that have no access to clean water or medication. Sadly, we can't sponsor everyone. At least not yet.

We thought it would be fun to have a girl the same age as Kay, so we can watch them grow up together, and we can pray for them together. And good for Kay, to have a pen pal, but also, to encourage a heart for others. Anyways, we are really excited about adding Mathesto to our family! (I can't pronounce her name, soooo we're gonna call her Mattie) She loves to play with dolls! I hope to send one to her today! We're equally excited for the birth of our son, and the birth of the child we will sponsor for him. And are praying for both boys.

If you are interested in sponsoring a child too, we went through World Vision. We researched the organization (legit), and are really excited about the support they provide, not only for the child, but for the entire community. I pray that you will be led to consider sponsorship. We are so blessed to live in a country where our basic needs are so readily met and skipping a dinner out once a month can provide a child with food, water, medication and an education for an entire month!

4. As we were driving the 12 hours back south from Indiana. Frank mentioned going down to Dalton, Georgia for Winter Ramp. 10.hours.away. The thought of driving or sitting in a car another 20 hours this month was not pleasing to this pregnant lady. I know the benefits of going and seeing the Ramp ministry first hand would farrrr out weigh the drive butttttt....insert whining tone here... I don't waaaaaaant tooooooo... Anyways, we agreed to let the Lord's will be done. Frank texted Mike about the possibility of going. And then we learned about the 1,000 people plus, waiting list. So we thought we had an answer. Thursday after talking about it over lunch with Mike, we knew there was zero chance of us going. 6 hours later, Frank got a text, Mike got us 2 spots. Less than an hour later we had our hotel and rental car booked. Amazing how the Lord can work, not only in an impossible situation, but on my exhausted-sick-of-road-trips-never-want-to-drive-again heart. So. We leave on Wednesday. Kay will not be going along with us. It's too long of a drive for her, and just too much work for me, to be able to care for her and focus on the Lord's voice. I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with Frank on the road. But it always seems we have the best talks in the car.

SO I think that catches you up. On most things. We had an amazing month long trip in Indiana. We got to see a LOT of people, do lots of things, and bake, and bake, and bake. I may never touch another spoon again. Frank flew from San Antonio to Indianapolis on Saturday, December 17. Nick, Lisa, Kay and I picked him up from the airport and we met my cousin, Brittany and her fiancee Derek at the Old Spaghetti Factory downtown. We love that place! Oh my! Best Food! We barely finished lunch before we drove over to Richmond to meet my Aunt and Uncle for dinner. We celebrated my Granny's & Kay's birthday (Party 6 of 6)

Sunday we spent with Nick... We watched the Colts win! Way to go guys! Week 14 is a great time to start winning. Then drove back to Geneva for Sunday dinner.

Monday we had dinner with Grandpa Tom, Grandma Jan, Uncle Brent (Sleepy), Aunt Penny, Logan (Cousin) and his wife Brittany.

Tuesday we had lunch at the best place in Indiana, The West End. Yum! Then drove over to Mansfield, Ohio. We got to see Aunt Sheli, Uncle Ron, Katie, Ty and Kara. We played cards and ate Jones' Potato chips, and other things! But the chips are the best, and you can only get them there! (It's easy to see where the last 5 pounds came from.)

Wednesday morning we loaded our already-jammed-packed truck with 6 more bags of Jones' and drove and drove and drove. We got home about 10 on Wednesday night. And see items 1 and 2 for the Thursday and Friday recap.

Last night we had dinner with our amazing friends! We got to share about the baby, hold not-so-little-anymore Charlotte, rub Heather's baby belly... one last time?... and fellowship. I gave Heather permission to have little Woody, now that we are back in town... I keep telling her I want to know the minute she goes into labor! She's less thrilled about this idea. I just want to help, ok Heather?! Jeez! hahahahaha! We talked about Pinterest! AH! I know! And Danielle and I are going to make bow holders! I'm so excited!!!!! We talked about my blog. And they bugged me about not writing. So here. Here is your post ladies!

We talked about how um. real. I am in my blog. But really I'm a scaredy cat. Really, I am. It's so easy to be bold, mean and sarcastic in front of the computer. But in real life I'm chicken. I know it, they know it, you might as well know it. I talk a big game, but I hate confrontation. Like... I hate Facebook. No secret. But I like my facebook-friends less every time I read their stupid posts, of course, I don't have the guts to tell them how idiotic they sound. I hate when people give commentary on my photos, um, they're mine. Back off. I secretly threaten to 1. delete you or 2. stop posting pictures. Or if I post 49 pictures, I have 49 notifications. Ah! I don't have to know you like every.single.picture I just posted!!!!!!!!!!!! Or say cute on each one. Just call me. Thank me for posting them and let me live my facebook life unnotified! I've contemplated deleting everyone that drives me bananas but then I realized I would only have like 20 friends left. I love when people say it's time to clean up their friend's list, I pray I get cut. Please, oh please, put me out of my misery! There are even family members I wish would just delete me. Trust me. No hard feelings. But like I said, I'm way too chicken to go around deleting people. Cause what if they noticed, then confronted me? I would probably run and cry. I'd be too laden with guilt to lie, saying it was a glitch.

Frank tells me I'm too hard on people. And I probably am. But when you post, something along the lines of... Freaking out... someone broke into my... home, car... fill in the blank... and stole... my ipod, tv... again, fill in the blank.... and the law enforcement act like they can't help... I'm just not sure what you want me to say. I am sorry that happened. But what do you expect the police to do? Yes, yes, catch them. Obviously. But it seems to me, like you are expecting them to open up their wallet and hand you the cash to replace it. What would you like them to do? Bang on every door in the state until they find your stuff and the dirt bag that stole it? If it's not on camera, and/or there are no fingerprints, what could anyone possibly do? I also enjoy when people post something along the lines of being thankful to God for their intelligence and then they misspell things in the same post. I just don't know what to say. I'm reading this back and totally hear Troy in my head. Meanness... My generational curse.

I'm gonna stop there for the day.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

Texas!

After blogging for a month straight I feel like it's been foreverrrrr since my last post. We all know that's not the truth, but it sure feels like it. Today I think, will be be pretty random, and a catch up of our trip to San Antonio.

First, I just want to say how exhausting it is being a temporary-single parent. I never imagined how difficult it would be to care for Kaylee by myself. I had often felt, when Frank was home, that I never got a minute to myself, well now I can see how incredibly untrue that was, and how true it is now. We are still visiting family in Indiana, and I do get help, but ultimately Kay is my responsibility. The feeding, bathing, teeth brusher (she hates this, so super challenging), diaper changing, potty training, nap time enforcer, and comforter, among others, all falls to me. I am also the sole disciplinarian which is probably the most difficult aspect of being a single mom. Besides the fact that Kay is becoming the ultimate mom-manipulator. She can and will cry at the drop of a hat, especially if she doesn't get her way. She'll throw herself on the floor and kick and scream and carry on. I'm determined to end that behavior, I cannot stand the temper tantrums. The terrible-two's are upon us my friends, be warned, it's awful. The other day, for example, Kay needed a spank, so I obliged. She laughed at me. Seriously, I spanked her, and she laughed! Talk about frustrating! Then while in Texas, when Frank corrected her behavior, she straightened right up. Proof! Kids need a father!

We had a crazy good time in Texas! I blogged about our first night there and the concert in my late Day 30 post. I did leave out a small funny thing Kay did though. She has been talking more and discovering her emotions and possession both of things and feelings. Like last week after I brushed Kay's teeth before bed she told me, "Dee Dee sad" (That's what she calls herself) I said "Oh no, why honey?" Kay said "Mouth hurt." So after we landed in Texas, rented the car, strapped the seat and girlie in, programmed the GPS, and on the highway heading toward Ft. Sam, I let out a big "Wooooo!" Of course I rented the smallest car ever, and here's a little history for you, I love little rally cars! My first car was a piece... neon, and I ran the wheels off it. I drove as fast and wild as I could, where ever I went, and 11 years later, I still drive little cars like my maniac 16-year-old self. So I'm whipping this little thing around the highway, in and out of rush hour traffic, cruising (of course, I never, ever drive our truck like this) and Kay from the backseat says "Mommy's cited!" (excited) I hollered a big 'You Bet!' And asked about Daddy. Kay said, "Daddy cited too! And Dee Dee cited! Mommy, Daddy and Dee Dee cited!" It was so sweet and insightful. I'm sure Kay has heard the word excited but I don't think I've ever heard her use it before that day.

And that brings me to Friday... Frank was supposed to be in class alllll day. But minutes before walking out of our hotel room to run errands and shop, he called and we ended up spending the morning on base at the PX. Um, for non military, it's the Army's version of the NEX, or Exchange. But in the Army it's called the Postal Exchange. Weird I know. So we had breakfast, shopped, and hung out for the better part of 2 hours before Frank had to be back at his barracks. We were reunited that night in time for dinner. Basically, it's always time to eat when I'm pregnant. We had dinner at Pico de Gallo, where we discovered the best.salsa.ever! Seriously I could have drank it!

There was also a huge and amazing Mariachi band... I'm talking an 8 member, instrument playing, Spanish singing band! Frank is hogging those pictures... But they sang Kay a song, who knows what about, and then they sang Happy Birthday! The wait staff also brought out the huge sombrero, fried ice cream and sang... Kay enjoyed every second of the attention! We finished the night by walking down to the Riverwalk, and taking a boat-ride tour.

Saturday we spent a half day at SeaWorld. Kay got to see Abby and Elmo, Penguins, and Shamu :) Well, she slept through the entire Shamu show but she thinks she saw him. Who am I to argue with a 2 year old. She still talks about getting her face painted, she says, "Peng-in face."

We had puffy tacos at Los Barrios, then walked down to the Alamo and hitched a ride on Cinderella's Carriage. Kay hollered "Rella's heese" each time we saw a passing pumpkin carriage so we obliged her. She woke up Sunday morning saying Rella's heese... and has talked about it each say since.

Sunday morning we had breakfast at Magnolia Pancake Haus. We will be going back. Each visit. So good! Then we shopped for boots! Here's a picture of Kay in her get up! Momma also got a new pair of boots, no picture :( Later we tried our boots and walked to the Mexican Market Place, we ate at Mi Tierra (absolute best Carne Asada EVER!) then walked around the shops and scoped out the terracotta pottery.

Day 30

So... I'm a day late. Yesterday we packed, cleaned and drove down to Indy to stay with my brother and his wife. All in preparation for our trip to Texas this morning. Frank left Norfolk 11 days ago... It feels much longer. Maybe that's what being a single parent feels like, eternity.

I have to say traveling with Kay by myself is probably singlehandedly the hardest thing.ever. We had a huge suitcase, car seat, stroller and carry on bag. I checked the bag and car seat, then had a 28 pound kid and bag to navigate through security, to the gate, down to Starbucks, back to the gate, and finally on the plane. Whew, I was exhausted by 10 this morning.

Our layover in Tampa was equally trying, except I put the stroller all the way through to San Antonio so Kay had to walk and I had a bag to hoist around. We boarded, I'm on 1/2-caf, cup two of the day and a woman traveling with two small children, alone, sits behind me. It.was.HORRIBLE! Kay fell asleep before the plane taxied out, but both of the girls behind me, I'm guessing ages 3 and 1, shrieked and hollered non.stop. To Texas! The 3 year old sat directly behind me, kicking and pushing on my seat. Kay was snuggled on my lap pushing into my bladder, passed out and baby 2 was one cramped and cranky [enter gender here]... So 2 and 1/2 hours goes by of this child constancy banging on my seat and I notice her mother does not care and never once asks her to stop. I'm fed up at this point. I'm a cranky preggo and ready to discipline both the mother and child when the constant and rapid bang.bang.bang.bang x 25 starts. So I just turned around and said, please, stop. The mother goes crazy on me! Be tolerant she says! Lady! Tolerant was flew out the window before we got off the ground! I told her, ma'am it's been going on for 2 & 1/2 hours now, I have been patient, I just can't take it anymore. Words are exchanged. Obviously she points out she has 2. I point out I have one too, one who hasn't kicked, cried, screamed or hollered and this is our second 2 hour + flight. She says she tells her child each time to stop. Um, nope, cause I can hear you.... You haven't told her once. I receive the silent treatment from mom, followed by the itsy, bitsy, spider over and over for the next 20 minutes. I hate that song now. And each time the song ends the other girl shrieks blood curdling YAYs. I typically refuse to drink wine while pregnant, but today, I earned a glass of red.

Finally we land. Wait for stroller (that is left outside of door)...forever, rent car, pick up bags, maneuver huge suitcase topped with car seat and stroller which now holds my carry on while herding small child out the door, across 5 lanes of traffic, after a pulling away bus. Breathe. More crazy pushing, pulling and calling all the way to the car. Buckle in seat, baby, load bags, program gps, answer phone calls from mom, granny, dad and Frank.

Drive! Then finally! Frank!!!!! He looks so skinny! Drive like mad woman through rush hour traffic, check into hotel, shower, change and head out to concert. Just so you know actual time, we landed at 4:05, we left our hotel at 6 to get food and find the coliseum.

Drive downtown to coliseum, traffic is backed up for parking and we needed to eat, so I whip a U-turn mid-street and race off to some local hot-spot BBQ dive, featured of course on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Head back to coliseum. Eat while waiting in traffic. Frank can't find the tickets. U-turn 2. Drive like mad woman back to hotel. Frank runs up to room. I find tickets in car. Drive back to coliseum. Park. Find seats. 9:00 Casting Crowns takes a 20 minute intermission. They've played for about 45 minutes. We have already determined we have to leave the concert by 9:15 to get Frank back to the barracks by curfew. Yes, the Navy really owns my husband.... So we leave. In the midst of the concert, Kay has managed to pass out in Frank's arms.

Get Frank back, drive to hotel, carry a sleeping baby to room huffing and puffing entire way, lay Kay down to put on her pj's.... She wakes up! Seriously. Wide awake and ready to play. She slept through 2 bands, Frank and I singing, screaming and yelling to wake up when it's quiet and she's in bed. Of course. It's almost 12 and I finally got her into her own bed. Praise Jesus! And now it's my turn for some much needed and well deserved rest!

And finally, before I forget
Day 30
Today, er, yesterday, I was thankful that it was indeed Day 30 and finally over. I am thankful and impressed I made it through the entire month. But most of all that I took time each day to reflect on something I was thankful for. I know I skipped posting a few days when things were just insane but I consciously thought of what I was Thankful for each and everyday and I know I don't do it enough. I'm equally thankful I'm not crazy like some people and continuing this on for an entire year!

Probably won't post again until Sunday night! Have a good weekend!

Day 29

I'm watching snow fall. Seriously. Where's Global Warming when you need it? I hate snow. I hate being cold and I'm counting down the hours until we are in Texas... That would be 47. And now I am crushed, I just checked the weather, 73 on Thursday (Score!) then rain all weekend long. Fan.tastic. At least I got an amazing hotel room 1 &1/2 blocks from the Riverwalk for cheap. We really wanted to take Kay to SeaWorld while we were there. Oh well, we've done SeaWorld in the rain once before...

Our trip is coming together. Thursday we get in at 4, pick Frank up, check in to our hotel, eat (I pray this is sooner, rather than later) then we're going to the Casting Crowns concert! Woo!

So... That was from this earlier... now we're down to 40 hours! Woo!

Do you pinterest? Listen, I just started and I love it. And today I found the best.post.ever!
It's listed as Blessing Bags. But basically it's a bag of essentials, toothbrush & paste, granola bars, all kinds of stuff, for homeless people. We always struggle with what to do when we see beggars on corners. We never carry cash, and hardly travel around with food. We've pulled through a few places and gotten food, or given away leftovers, anything to help. But we are doing these bags! It's so amazing, and I know when you see it, you will want to do it too... I dunno if this is taboo or not, but here is the link for the woman's blog... Please, please go check it out!
http://kwavs.blogspot.com/2011/05/blessing-bags-how-to.html
Frank and I don't talk very much during the day, he's in class, then works out, and with the bed time routine we usually stay up late catching up, that and we email. A lot. But tonight we talked and texted more about these bags than anything else. We want to include a pocket Bible, and hand warmers for the winter months (i.e, always in Denver). But more than anything we want to do this with Kaylee and eventually our other children to teach them about caring for and loving others. Then they will always be on the look out for people in need to give them away to. I just love this idea and I want to start building bags right away! If you have any suggestions for what to put in them, I would love to hear them too!

As always, the day got away from me, and it's that time again...
Day 29
Today I am thankful for lazy days. A day to rest and recharge my batteries. Which is almost never possible with a 2 year old (Well in 12 days). Don't get me wrong we did a lot today: laundry, we made caramel corn and caramels, and I set up 2012 financial spread sheets for my Granny, booked the hotel and rental car for our trip to Texas, researched tickets home for Frank.... But we didn't go anywhere, we weren't in a hurry to do anything, we just milled around and let Kay run free. She is getting to be such a holler-er and talker... But she's fun! Watching her run wears me out but it makes for peaceful sleep for all!

Tomorrow is Day 30... last day! Woo!

Day 28

Day 28
Today I am thankful for comfort items. Like when I've had a really crappy day, much like today, and a bowl of ice cream with caramel. I'm thankful for my snuggly daughter who always makes me feel loved. I'm thankful for mind numbing thing like pinterest and Law and Order or NCIS. I'm thankful that in the eyes of Jesus it really doesn't matter what others think or say about me. I'm thankful for His unconditional love and support. I'm thankful for the much needed glass of wine at the end of a long day. All those things that make me feel better and don't make me feel worse or guilty or like I'm a bad person.

24, 25, 26 & 27

Well... Almost fell off this bandwagon. 3 days behind... tisk tisk! Like everywhere, it's been crazy over Thanksgiving. Especially since we are 'home'. Although the majority of my family lives here I do not consider Indiana my home. I've lived longer in North Carolina so I'm claiming the South as my home. Plus is freezing up here! My Granny keeps saying, "It's such a nice day!" And I'm wearing every stitch of clothing I managed to bring along... We attempted to go for a walk the other day... I've been eating a lot of turkey and not doing a lot of walking, so that 1 pound a week is probably happening! Our walk lasted about 5 minutes (there was a strong, bitter wind)... Guess I'll just have to get on the bike in the garage and peddle those potatoes off...
Kay and I are days away from our first visit to Texas! We're so excited to see Frank! I think the really hard thing has been not seeing him... We really need to figure out skype! He's had a few days off and has buddied up with his roommate and another fleet returnee to explore the Riverwalk and Walmart. I'm praying he would find some strong Christian fellowship on base. He feels a lot of pressure to fit in. And he feels so alone. Personally, I think these guys are draining him faster than he can get filled by God's word. He's been listening to a lot of Ramp sermons, (his emails are full of Damon) and reading but I think fellowship would help him greatly. He prays continually through the day and I pray for him.  The Wednesday and Thursday Bible studies were cancelled this week because of the holiday, he's even tried going by the Chaplain's office, but he's been off base. So I'm glad it's Sunday and he can go to church!
I just discovered I'm at the very awkward stage of pregnancy when my normal shirts don't quite fit but my maternity shirts are still too big. All my normal jeans are way too big, so I'm mostly wearing my maternity pants at least I can manage to keep them pulled up. On a related note the baby has been very active! I guess s/he likes Thanksgiving as much as I do. After this week though, I'm not entirely sure what I am going to be able to eat... You've seen the list of aversions (fish, chicken, pork, eggs, pumpkin, nuts) now add bar-b-que sauce and hamburgers to it. I'm pretty much down to produce, cheese and chocolate. I'm feeling better, for the most part, lots of heart burn though (not really an issue until 8mo with Kay), I think I've only taken one anti-nausea pill since I've been here. But we've been doing so much running around I'm exhausted! Kay is so worn out by Nanny-PawPa she doesn't even move until 7. Which is really nice since we are sharing a room.
Kaylee is usually a pretty wound-up child. I'm pretty sure the only time she is quiet and acts her best is with my parents. We have let her run the house, but we are taking back control... Change has been slow, since she has reigned uncontested for the past 2 years... But 'the spank' is working. So she's always been a little on the wild side... That is until Granny's house. Oh. this. girl... She is a maniac! She just runs and hollers and sings until she crashes. My mom always used to say we were such perfect children, until we were around Granny, then we became the most unruly gang of screaming banshees. I can finally see it. Kay is so excited and Granny really lets her do almost anything she wants. Kay is having so much fun, it's hard to step in and discipline when she needs it, buttttttt I've done it. :D

Another answer to prayer, is that Frank will have some time off for Christmas! He is going to come home, since it would be ridiculously expensive for Kay and I to go there... The absolute! best! part of all is that he is going to be home in time to go with me for the anatomy ultrasound!!!!!!!! So we get to find out TOGETHER the baby's sex... Although I already have a strong feeling about it... I'm excited!

I suppose I should tell Day 19's story... I know, I know, it's been a long time coming, and I keep promising it... Lucky for you I am typing this on my new computer and not on the phone... (Black Friday specials and stories to come :)
So. I have been a little nervous about moving back in with my parents. They are great people and I love them dearly. They aren't, um, upset or turned off by our awakening, but then again, we don't really talk about it, or anything of major importance, for that matter, as a family. My dad is a huge cynic. He doesn't like organized religion. He grew up in a uber conservative church in the cornfields of Indiana... I don't really blame him. Anyways, he's pretty anti-church, and hasn't really understood our desire to go to church. So I was nervous to pray in front of them, like at dinner, or do things of a spiritual nature with them, talk doctrine, etc. A few day prior to Nov. 19 (you know, day 19) I had heard through the family grapevine, that my dad had said he felt like he needed to go back to church. I was elated to see the Spirit's work and encouraged about moving in, and hopeful that Kay and I would be able to encourage my family and the Lord would continue His work. Saturday rolled around and Frank left that morning. That night my mom and I fixed dinner and I overheard my dad tell Josh not to stay out too late because the next morning we were all going to church. I was instantly in the same room. I think I ran, I don't remember. In my mind I casually asked what and where, something to that effect, and dad said they were coming to church with me. Um ok. Time to eat. All I could think about was asking to pray over the meal. Kay, Dad and Josh were all sitting down, my mom was still fixing plates, and I'm trying to wait for her to come over to the table before asking. My dad starts to feed Kay and she starts saying "Payyy, Payyy!" My dad says, "Oh, peas?" Tries to feed her a bite, Kay says "No!" then looks at me and says "Pay Mommy." I wasn't entirely sure what she was saying, but asked, "Do you want to pRay, Kaylee?"Kay shakes her head and says Yep then holds out her hands to my dad and mom. So my dad prays over the meal. But how cool is that? Kay has not only gotten used to Frank and I praying over meals but she knows before we eat, we pray.

So I suppose I should move on to catching up...

Day 24 (Thanksgiving Day)
Today I am thankful for the day and what it means. A day to celebrate what you are thankful for and be reminded of all your blessings. A day each year that causes families to drive 14 hours to spend time together. I am also thankful for God's redeeming love and grace. And thankful that through Christ we have the ability to forgive people when they don't deserve it. I am thankful for the strength to endure the day without Frank.

Day 25 (Black Friday)
Today I am thankful for a good deal! We were in desperate need of a new laptop... Our laptop fell out of the truck during our last trip to Indiana, there was some surface damage and it worked for 2 weeks. But now it won't turn on. Pampered Chef needs a computer to work. I need a computer to waste time on pinterest properly. You know, the important stuff. Well... I dragged Josh to the Walmart in Portland, In. at 9:30 Thanksgiving night and stood in line until 12 for an onsale hp. We also managed to buy Kay way too many toys. I really liked this Little People Dance 'n Twirl Palace, on sale for $20. We made a pile and watched the surrounding madness. I wasn't sure about getting this toy for Kay until I looked up the regular retail price... $90! Um, heck yea, I was buying it! We got a few other things, like the $2.84 Waffle Iron someone was assaulted and arrested over, a mega playdoh set, you know, the essentials. Checkout: Of course I watch each item, to make sure it rings up right, then she scans the Palace. $9! What?! A $90 toy for $9?! So I am not sure what the better deal was, the laptop or Kay's Christmas present.

Day 26
Today I am thankful for my Uncle Bob. We desperately needed front brakes, and when Frank found out I was planning on driving all the way to Indiana without getting new ones, he was maddd. I mentioned the brakes to my Gramps and he made me an appointment for Tuesday at his usual place. Then my Uncle found out I needed brakes. Well! That man! He replaced them for me! Instead of paying $150, I paid $25 for new (Um, I think) shoes... (or pads... or whatever). But what a deal! And our truck is running wonderfully and now Frank doesn't have to worry about us driving home!

Day 27
Today I am thankful Kaylee naps. Oh this child is so rambunctious! We all need a few hours break. In fact, she just woke up and now I am wishing I had napped too. I'm not going to make it to 9!
I am also thankful I am not the same person I used to be. I am thankful for the Lord's transforming work and that He still is not finished with me. I look forward to growth and the next glory!

Also... I need to start and work on my list of things to do while Frank is gone and I have nothing but time on my hands... (um, sarcasm)
I have about 8 books, that I want to read, immediately.
I want to learn how to use a sewing machine.
I want to make a wreath.
I want to make Kay a hairbow/clip container.
I want to go to Ohio and visit my Aunt Lisa :) and others

And that's all I can think of for now... for the list and the post. Ah, see you again, tomorrow. And everyday until Wednesday and then I quit! I am never doing a month thing like this again!
